My husband and I have been married for eight years now. I still can’t believe that sometimes! He was deployed six months after our wedding day, for a year, so it doesn’t seem as long as it is. My husband is so amazing. He’s not perfect by any means, but who is! Since today is Valentine’s Day and just a few days after his birthday, I thought I would share some things I love about my amazing husband.
He Provides For Me
This man works his butt off. Seriously! For the past 3 years, he has worked full time AND gone to school full time to achieve his dreams. He is THE breadwinner in our family because I have disabilities which make it hard to do much of anything. I have been trying so hard to contribute to our income, but without being able to work a normal job, it’s hard. I am so incredibly thankful and grateful for my husband. I don’t tell him that enough.
He Makes Me Laugh
To call my husband cheesy is a major understatement! You know the Cheez-It commercials where the cheese isn’t mature enough and makes bad jokes? That’s just like my husband! Haha! He doesn’t think he’s cheesy, but he most definitely is. But he still makes me laugh. He’s usually the funniest when he’s not trying to be. He can be so witty! I’ve always been a firm believer that laughter is the best medicine. With the pain and struggles we have been through, he has kept me laughing. Even when I roll my eyes at his cheesy-ness, I am still laughing!
He Takes The Trash Out
I hate taking the trash out. I don’t know why I hate it so much, but I do. It’s like the worst chore for me. We established the unofficial rule when we first moved in with each other that he would take the trash out. It started that way because we lived in an apartment complex and had to take the trash to the dumpster. It wasn’t the greatest neighborhood and I was kinda scared to be outside alone. So, he would take it out for me. Then it just kept going. A few years ago, we lived in an apartment that had garbage pickup outside our door. It was easy enough for me to set the bag out. I guess it was mostly the habit that made him keep doing it. He doesn’t always do it without complaining, but he knows that I hate doing it!
He Is Supportive of My Dreams
I’m kind of all over the place with my dreams and plans. It’s always been hard to focus for long. I definitely suffer from ADD. I’ve started with so many direct sales companies that I lost count! I want to write a book, I have several blogs, plus so many other things I like/want to do. Every time I start with something else, he is always encouraging and helpful. He helps me come up with blog post ideas, talks to people about products I’m selling, gives me ideas about plots or characters for my book. I’m so lucky!
He Makes Me Feel Beautiful
I have always had self-esteem issues. I’ve struggled with weight pretty much since I was in kindergarten. Kids made fun of me all the time. Even as an adult, people say things that make me feel horrible. They probably don’t mean it in a bad way, but it’s just how I take it because I’ve dealt with this for so long. My husband makes me feel beautiful and sexy. When I try on a new outfit, he notices. He smiles and gets this cute look in his eyes! It’s sweet.
He Loves Me
One of my biggest fears in life is being alone. Alone and unloved. Even though I love my alone time! I don’t know where this fear comes from because I grew up in an amazing family who loved and supported me. (Even if they didn’t always LIKE me!) I am so thankful to have a husband who loves me as much as he does! Even though we don’t have a perfect marriage, I never doubt his love for me.
He Dreams With Me
My Daddy taught me to dream big. His dream was to build his Monticello. (Thomas Jefferson’s home) He wanted the outside to be identical and he would redesign the inside. Unfortunately, he passed away way too young and wasn’t able to have his Monticello. But he passed on the ability to dream big to me and my sister.
When I met my husband, he didn’t really know how to dream. I would ask him what his dreams were and he just didn’t have anything. Over the years, he has slowly started to allow himself to dream. My family and I have always been really positive with him and encouraged him to have dreams and FOLLOW his dreams! His biggest one is to have a food truck. And for the past three years, he has been in culinary school and is about to graduate with a Bachelor’s degree in Restaurant Management! Talk about being SUPER PROUD of my husband!
